Instrument Information
Participants should bring their concert instrument and all needed accessories, including mutes, valve oil, extra reeds, etc. If you are auditioning for jazz ensemble and require a separate instrument, bring that as well.
Participants should also bring their own marching instrument. We encourage students to use marching instruments from their school (mellophones, marching baritones, sousaphones) if at all possible. Often, your band director will allow you to borrow an instrument over the summer for this purpose.
Percussionists DO NOT need to bring instruments; all concert and marching percussion will be provided. Percussionists SHOULD bring their own sticks and mallets.
Tuba players whose schools use shoulder-held “contrabass”-style marching tubas, will be provided a sousaphone.
If you cannot bring your own marching instrument, you must contact us as soon as possible to arrange for one to be loaned to you. Email Dr. McCutcheon at [email protected] with instrument questions.
